Philippe Mueller will oversee the development and market adoption of Clearstream Fund Services’ digital fund solutions, with a remit spanning digital fund distribution, distributed ledger technology (DLT)-enabled processing, transfer agency innovation and private markets automation.

The appointment brings product development and transformation under his leadership as Clearstream, Deutsche Börse Group’s post-trade business, works to connect traditional and digital financial markets. His predecessor, Olivier Portenseigne, is pursuing a new opportunity outside the organisation, according to the company.

Mueller will work with asset managers, distributors, custodians and wealth management firms to develop these services, with a focus on improving efficiency, connectivity and transparency in fund operations.

From transformation to product development

Mueller brings more than 25 years of experience across Clearstream and Deutsche Börse Group. Since 2022, he has served as executive director and head of Transformation Office & Digital, leading digitalisation initiatives and the strategic integration of FundsDLT into Clearstream Fund Services.

His previous positions include head of Issuer CSD Services, where he initiated digital issuance solutions, and head of Investment Fund Operations & Client Onboarding. He has also served as chairman of LuxCSD’s board.

Philippe Seyll, CEO of Clearstream Fund Services, said the appointment reflected the company’s succession planning. Mueller “combines extensive experience across fund services and market infrastructure with a deep understanding of our digital strategy, ensuring continuity and fresh perspectives”, he said.

Mueller described DLT, tokenisation and digital workflows as drivers of change in the investment fund industry, highlighting Clearstream’s role in connecting these technologies with established market infrastructure.
